Jekyll Island is a state park and one of Georgia’s barrier islands. It has a rather unique history, which you can read here. The Jekyll Island Lions Club itself was founded on 5 July 1962 after the state began encouraging the settlement of permanent residents in the park. The club is currently active in supporting a variety of charities through fund raising efforts, used eyeglasses collection, and service projects. It has dinner meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of the month between September and May. The summer is the high tourist season and the club does not meet in June, July and August. More information about the club can be found on the web and on Facebook .
