The Jekyll Island Lions Club is fortunate to have a strong commitment from its members. At the last bi-monthly meeting, the Georgia 18-N First Vice District Governor attended and presented service awards to Lions Howard and Bob for their many years as Lions Club members. Their experience and support illustrate what makes this Club such a vibrant and robust organization.
While he was here, the First Vice District Governor also presented the Club with an award from the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation for the Club’s continued support over the years. Not only does the Club donate funds to the Foundation, it recycles eye glasses and assists with eye clinics in Brunswick.
In deed, the Jekyll Island Lions Club does a lot of good work in the community. A few days prior to this meeting, a local resident on the island experienced a fire in her rental home and suffered a big loss. At the meeting, the Club authorized giving her a donation to aid in her recovery. The First Vice District Governor was impressed and noted that helping people is what Lions do; it’s certainly what the Jekyll Island Lions Club does.
