Jekyll Island is rather unique in that it is a state park, but one with permanent residents. Fifty-four years ago, some of these residents came together to form the Jekyll Island Lions Club. Living in a popular tourist destination presents a few challenges and one of them is “high season.” The summer months make up high season here and every civic organization on Jekyll Island, as well as most communities along this section of the Georgia coast, go on vacation. The Lions Club is no different, taking off June, July and August. In keeping with this tradition, there will be no blog entries until August. Happy summer!
